Our Story

Alec and Emily’s relationship has been exciting, dramatic, distant, and now closer than ever. They met in Salt Lake City, Utah in March 2021 at The Dodo restaurant. At this time Emily and her daughter Charley were living near Liberty Park in SLC and Alec became a fixture in their lives. Together they all enjoyed Liberty Park, SLC restaurants, and all that Utah has to offer.

In 2023 Alec left to Finland to explore job opportunities and the Finnish culture. This was a tough time in Alec and Emily’s lives from a relationship standpoint. Emily was able to visit Alec a couple of times during the wonderful and beautiful Finnish summers and during these visits they decided to get married. In 2025 Alec returned back to SLC with exciting new career opportunities in both industry and academia with a new appreciation for the mountains, and both Emily and Charley.

Emily comes from Regina Beach which is located in Saskatchewan, Canada. She comes from a loving family with parents Nick and Debbie, brother Jeremy, and Sister Kayleanna Giesinger. Together they all enjoyed the Last Mountain Lake and long road trips throughout Canada.

Emily moved to Utah in 2014 and initially attended Westminster College. In 2017 she had her daughter Charley and took a break from school. Emily is now finishing a degree in Chemical Engineering at The University of Utah while Alec is eagerly waiting for her to be done.

Emily loves being a mother to her daughter Charley and is known in our circles as a “killer baby raiser”. She enjoys Bear Lake where Alec’s parents have a cabin and also beautiful Canadian and Finnish summers in the lakes and saunas.

Charley is now 8 years old and is very happy, excited, and loves learning new things in life. She swims, plays tennis, and most importantly is a great gymnast.

We are excited to celebrate our love with all of you and hope you can join us! Since many of our friends and family members are in Canada and Finland we understand that it may be hard/impossible for you to attend. Even if you cannot, we hope you reach out and to also see you soon.

Alec comes from Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also from a loving family with parents Douglas and Katriina, two brothers Bryant and Marcus, and one sister Hannah Adair. Growing up they enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, Utah’s lakes, reservoirs and all around beauty and nature.

Alec graduated from Viewmont High School in 2011. After this he attended The University of Utah where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering in 2018. After working for a few years he returned to The University of Utah and received a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2023. He hopes to one day get a PhD in his field of integrated circuit design and automation. Although not enrolled in school, he is active in academia still and has been regularly submitting papers to prestigious journals and conferences where he has had the chance to present his work. This creates a great reason for the 3 to go on “vacations”.

Along with Emily, Alec has a great relationship with her daughter Charley and loves her very much. The two get along very well and occasionally team up against Emily.
